What is hypnotherapy?

Who can be hypnotised?

Most people have the ability to be hypnotised, but only if they choose to engage in the process. No-one can be hypnotised against their will, nor will anyone do something they don't want to during hypnosis.

My approach

I adopt a holistic perspective where all aspects of the individual are taken into account as appropriate.

I integrate other disciplines into the hypnotherapy sessions delivering a rounded approach.

What happens in a session

During the initial session we will establish the issue or issues you want to deal with and you will be helped to identify your desired outcomes. We will discuss the number of sessions needed to deal with your issues and I will explain to you what is happening on a conscious and sub-conscious level. This will help you to gain insight to your issues, as well as a greater understanding of the problems. You will be given a free hypnotherapy CD to listen to in between sessions and you may also be asked to do other activities in between sessions.

During subsequent sessions we will focus on helping you to achieve the change you want while applying the most useful psychotherapeutic tools appropriate to your needs. We will spend the first part of the session talking and during the second part I will guide you into a relaxed state of hypnosis, or focused awareness. When your body and mind are relaxed and receptive it enables change to occur. We will work with the subconscious part of your mind, which is the part that needs to make any changes, as it is the part that deals with automatic behaviour and is also the part that allows the presenting issues to be healed.
